The Challenges:
-
Misunderstood
Feeling like no one truly gets what they're going through
-
Emotionally Overwhelmed
Struggles to process or regulate strong emotions.
-
Socially Withdrawn
Pulling away from friends, family, and connection.
-
Stuck in Avoidance
Escaping into phones, gaming, or constant distraction.
-
Unable to Communicate
Struggles to express what they’re feeling or thinking.
-
LACKING DIRECTION
Uncertain about who they are or where they’re going.
-
As a parent, you feel it too.
You care deeply—but you’re not sure how to reach them anymore. -
You can feel the distance growing.
You care deeply, but conversations go nowhere. -
You know your teen is capable,
but something isn’t clicking.
-

Real change begins when a teenager feels understood.
With trust in place, we build structure, confidence, and responsibility.
MY COACHING METHOD
-

Connection First
Teenagers rarely open up to adults they don’t trust. I focus first on building a genuine connection so they feel safe being honest.
-

Self-Awareness
Once trust is built, we work on understanding emotions, behaviors, and the choices shaping their life.
-

Ownership
From there we develop habits, accountability, and personal standards that help them grow into a confident and responsible young adult.
-

Parent Partnership
Parents remain part of the process through regular communication and updates so mentorship supports the entire family.
Meet the Founder
Eric Cao, PE
Licensed Professional Engineer and youth mentor focused on helping teens build confidence, emotional maturity, and personal responsibility.
10+ years mentoring teenagers through a youth nonprofit, supporting challenges with communication, relationships, and growing into adulthood.
Observed a consistent pattern: when teens feel heard and respected, they become far more open to guidance, accountability, and growth.
After a career in engineering — built on discipline, responsibility, and problem-solving — Eric chose to dedicate his work to mentoring youth.
Founded Connection First Mentoring to provide what many teens lack: a trusted adult mentor outside the family.
